Q: What is WhaleMail?
A: WhaleMail allows you to send a file of any size from your account to anyone with an e-mail address. This service allows you to avoid e-mail attachment limitations, because WhaleMail does not send your file directly to the recipient, instead a small message containing an Internet address is delivered. The recipient simply clicks on or copies and pastes the address into their web browser in order to visit a page from which they can download the file you have sent.

A: In the Light Interface, every file stored in your account has a check box displayed to the left of its file name. In order to send a file out of your account, select the check box next to the file(s) you wish to send and press the WhaleMail button. A: You may send a file to anyone with an e-mail address, you may either add recipients to your Address Book or enter their addresses when you send the file.
Q: Using Netscape, how do I download files that were sent to me?
A: When a person using Netscape 7.0 receives a WhaleMail and tries to save the file to their local computer, they may encounter a problem. Netscape 7.0 changes the filename slightly and this can cause difficulties. When the option to save the file is selected, Netscape pre-fills in the file name but for unknown reasons it appends .asp to the end of the original file name. For example, the file businessplan.doc would be saved as businessplan.doc.asp - To correct this problem, you should delete the .asp extension and the file will then be saved intact. If this extension is not removed, the file cannot be opened in its intended program. Earlier versions of Netscape do not exhibit this behavior.
Q: How do I add new names to my address book?
A: In order to add names and e-mail addresses to your Address Book, simply choose Address Book from the left menu bar of your account. At the top of the Address Book page you may add a new recipient by simply entering their name and e-mail address and press Add.

Q: How can I synchronize a folder on my computer with one in my account?
A: Synchronization allows you to synchronize or mirror two folders - one in your
account and one on your system. In order to use the Synchronization feature right-click the folder you
would like to synchronize, and select Synchronize. When the dialog appears, you will be prompted to
select a "local" folder on your computer.
After selecting a local folder, the differences between the remote and local folders appear in the two list boxes. The top list box shows the files in the local folder that are not present in the remote folder. The bottom list box shows the files in the remote folder that are not present in the local folder. To synchronize one to match the other, simply press the "Synchronize" button in either the "Remote" or "Local" list box area.
Synchronize
Select this button to begin the synchronization process for either the remote or local folder:
Remote:
Not On Local, the file is deleted.
Not On Remote, the file is uploaded.
Caution! Check "Don't Delete" if you do not want any data deleted.
Local:
Not On Local, the file is downloaded.
Not On Remote, the file is deleted.
Caution! Check "Don't Delete" if you do not want any data deleted.
The following options are available:
Ignore Case
If checked, letter case in the filenames will be ignored during synchronization.
Compare Size
If checked, the file size is compared.
Compare Time (Date and Time)
If selected, file dates and times are compared.
Include Subfolders
If selected, Drag-and-Drop also compares sub folders for differences.
Don't Delete
If selected Drag-and-Drop will not delete files when synchronizing.
Overwrite Confirmations
If selected Drag-and-Drop will ask your permission to overwrite files when either uploading or downloading.
Delete Confirmations
If selected Drag-and-Drop will ask your permission to delete files. If not selected, Drag-and-Drop will always delete files.
Queue Error Messages
When selected, causes Drag-and-Drop to continue transferring files even when error messages occur. The error messages are queued and displayed at one time in a dialog box. When not selected, an error message is displayed, and the transfer operation is stopped until the user presses OK.
Ignore Symbolic Links
When selected, UNIX symbolic links will not be included in the folder synchronization process. In some cases UNIX symbolic links can cause Drag-and-Drop to synchronize a particular file or folder multiple times, reducing the efficiency of the process. In these cases you can avoid this problem by selecting this option.
Compare
When you browse to select a local folder for synchronization, the comparison happens automatically; however, when typing a local folder name, you must select this button to perform the comparison.
Ignore folders starting with any of the following
Directories starting with any character specified here are not included in the Synchronization process.
# Threads
The maximum number of transfer threads to use during synchronization. The value you enter here will limit how many transfer sessions Drag-and-Drop runs at a time while doing the synchronization. In most instances a value of 1 is sufficient. If your computer is connected to the Internet with a fast Internet connection, a higher value can be used.
Close
Closes the Synchronize box.
The following are available for both the remote and local folders.
Ignore Newer
If this option is checked, "newer" files will not appear in the list box for synchronization.
Ignore Older
If this option is checked "older" files will not appear in the list box for synchronization.
"X" Delete
Selecting this button or pressing the "Del" key causes the currently selected remote or local items to be removed from the synchronize list. The file or folder is not actually deleted - it is simply removed from the list for synchronization.
